Snow storm snarls travel in Plains, Southwest

Weather forecasters warned that the storm likely to snarl travel holidays throughout the region. The hotels fill up Tuesday along the major roads of Eastern New Mexico to Kansas.

The storm weakened towards the East to Missouri and the Great Lakes, and officials reopened Interstate in some areas. The Authority still reported snow drifts of up to 10 meters in Southeast Colorado, and Texas officials warn drivers to the streets in Panhandle so that the crew would have a clear path to remove ice and snow. A highway in Western Oklahoma Panhandle is closed.

Part of Interstate 70 in Western Kansas that have closed are re-opened. New Mexico re-opened the closed section of Interstate 25, the main thoroughfare of the Santa Fe line of Colorado, after the crew cleared the high drifts over 5 feet. The storm dumped as much as 15 inches of snow as it hit part of the five countries.
